Hi friend! I'm Brittany.
...the mama behind the lens at Micah Lynn Birth Stories + Photography.
I am an Oklahoma birth photographer and videographer with a passion for following Jesus, serving mamas, storytelling, bubble tea, deep conversations, laughing out loud, and all things birth and babies. Oh, and I'm a bit of a travel junkie as well, which is why I gladly serve both the Tulsa & OKC areas, and take dedicated time "off-call" every year! #balance
My love for storytelling began as a love for writing in grade school (I still have my puffy Beauty and the Beast journal to prove it) and has since blossomed into a career in photography and filmmaking that began in the spring of 2015. I've had the honor of capturing close to 60 births since then!
This business gives homage to my angel baby, Micah Lynn, who was "born heavenside" in 2012. Micah's story, and the rainbow baby that followed, changed my life for the better... and led me to this incredible thing I get to call "work" as I serve and empower mamas by allowing them to see themselves as I see them: beautiful, powerful, and completely captivating.
At a birth...
I'm the supportive, encouraging friend who can be a fly on the wall during a special moment with your partner or little one; or someone to laugh with at an awkward moment (I know my own births have had plenty of them). I can be a cheerleader, or go into doula mode and help you learn to ride the waves. I can pray with you in a moment of fear or feeling overwhelmed by the sensation and beauty of bringing life into the world.
In all of these roles, I have my camera poised and ready to capture the real life moments that will remind you and your baby for the rest of your lives just how loved you really are.
When I'm not at a birth...
I love to capture family moments via lifestyle photography and films, be it through a fresh 48 session at your birth location, or those settled-in, cozy moments during the first couple of weeks at home with your newborn squish.
Otherwise, you can probably find me with a lavender bubble tea in hand and dancing in my living room to some folk music alongside my three main men: my handsome resident-doctor husband, my energetic four-year-old rainbow baby, and my cool-as-a-cucumber one-year-old.
Above all, I'm a daughter of Christ, and am forever grateful for His faithfulness in my life.
Professional Awards & Features
My work has been in featured in both national and international publications including TODAY, Huffington Post, Popsugar, Daily Mail, Buzzfeed, Kidspot, MammaMia, and Birth OK Magazine. I have also been honored to participate and place in multiple international birth photography contests, winning member’s choice for Delivery by the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers, receiving 2nd place in the Out-of-Hospital Category for the 2019 Birth Becomes Her contest, and 7th place in the Birth category for the the 2018 Documentary Family Awards. I am so grateful for the community of photographers that have challenged me as an artist in each of these organizations and can’t wait to continue to grow alongside them!
Did you know what you're a part of?
Every single client that works with me to tell their story is a part of a much bigger story, of which I have the incredible privilege of documenting. Because of your support, I am able to donate my time and services for the Silas Program, a newborn palliative care program, documenting the birth stories of little ones who are not expected to spend much time on Earth as part of my mission to remember that all pregnancy and infant losses are #littlelivesnotlittlelosses. Your support has also enabled me to pursue my certification as a Birth and Bereavement Doula through Still Birth Day, so that I can serve these families, and all of my clients, with the highest level of care. In addition to these methods of "giving back", it is my absolute honor to offer 10% off birth, fresh 48, and newborn story collections to mamas welcoming a rainbow baby through my ministry "The Rainbow Project." Each of these ministries are so integral to my "Why" so from the bottom of my heart... THANK YOU for your support.
